The Ministry of Manpower recently announced that it will implement stricter qualifications for granting Employment Passes across all ages. For one, the qualifying salary will move up for Q1 and P2 applicants, from $2,800 to $3,000 and from $4,000 to $4,500, respectively.
The new qualifications for Singapore recruitment
will start to take effect on January 1, 2012. Foreigners who are already working in the country will be given a one-time renewal for two more years, but only if their Employment Pass will expire before January 2010. If the Employment Pass is set to expire within January 1 and June 30, 2010, the renewal will only be valid for a year. Lastly, foreigners whose Employment Pass will expire beyond July 1, 2012 will already be subject to the new criteria.
