Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is the firms’ investment management business providing global investment opportunities to a substantial and diversified client base including corporations, financial institutions, governments and third-party clients. GSAM Operations is part of the Operations, Technology and Finance (OT&F) division of Goldman Sachs and comprises 400 professionals based in 5 centers across the globe. OT&F consists of three broad functional areas, Trade Management (TM), Portfolio Data and Control and Client Management, all of which work in a dynamic environment where control, client service and excellence in execution are fundamental principles.
The Institutional Oversight (IO) team sits within Client Management and has primary responsibility for client account events, all aspects of portfolio accounting, cash management, client reporting, and serves as the single point of contact for all operations related client inquiries. These functions cover a wide range of clients and a complex product range, which include equities, fixed income, currency and derivatives. The group supports portfolio managers, sales and client relationship professionals by providing accurate and timely client account information and overseeing all aspects of operational risk across portfolios. This involves extensive interaction with internal and external parties to ensure effective oversight for existing business and also to shape and implement solutions for new clients, products, strategies, and system architecture. The group continues to focus on best in-class client experience and working closely with the business to maintain and enhance client relationships.


As a member of Institutional Oversight, the person will be responsible not only for ongoing client support across cash management and queries, but also for coordinating and managing tasks across a multi-disciplined team to ensure all information relating to an account event is received and systems are set up prior to account trading activity. The role involves building strong internal relationships with key contacts within GSAM Operations globally, as well as other areas supporting the business, while driving excellent client service and working with industry counterparts and vendors to increase efficiency in the market.

This is a highly interactive role and as such requires the capability to work effectively with a diverse range of professionals both internally and externally, covering a wide variety of products and functions. The main areas of responsibility will be:
Holistic ownership and understanding of client accounts from a GSAM Operations perspective by coordinating client issues across all operations teams and business partners, and act as a single point of contact for GSAM Operations
Ensure accounting data accuracy and provide accounting policy oversight in order to create controlled environment for investment management process
Daily cash forecasting in multi-currency portfolios to include overdraft monitoring and fund liquidity reporting
Trading desk support to include ad-hoc queries as well as ongoing business initiatives
Partner and liaise with client relationship and sales teams to qualify new business, implement account events, and ensure the adequacy of account structures and surveillance
Proactively review indicators of operational issues/concerns with the goal of resolving such issues before client impact
Review account level metrics (i.e. reconciling items on cash/position reconciliations, daily corporate actions, NAV Reconciliations, failing trades, standard/non-standard reporting deliverables) as defined by operating standards and research, escalate, remediate exceptions as appropriate
Provide governance and transparency for client collections by overseeing open receivables process and coordinating with Distribution Teams
Develop, manage and maintain relationships with client contacts and relevant third parties (i.e. accounting agent, custodian, etc.) to ensure that GSAM Operations is providing the highest quality client experience.
Interpret and determine client requirements and service standards from legal documentation and business requirements supporting all account events.
Manage the account set up process internally and externally. Ensure that any and all operational requirements are finalized and approved, and all client issues are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.
Coordinate controls and sign-offs both internally and externally.
Apply business process reengineering methodologies and executing strategies and tactical solutions.

Basic knowledge of the asset management business and investment products across major asset classes (fixed income, alternatives, equities, money markets).
Detailed understanding of the trade lifecycle, from order and execution management, allocation, confirmation and fail management
Experience in relationship management and/or client facing activities.
Problem solving capability for complex client and operational issues.
Strong communication skills: Presentation skills, written ad verbal communication and ability to summarize various client/business requirements to all the levels in the organization. Negotiate and build consensus on solutions
Strong project management skills: Ability to organize and track multiple threads of activity, ability to deliver on tight timelines, hands-on approach to resolving issues and detail orientation.
Task oriented: Must be able to multi-task, prioritize work, and work well under pressure from multiple clients/constituents to respond to client inquiries quickly.
Highly organized, attention to detail and excellent follow through skills
