Vice President, Sponsorships - APAC
The AP Head of Sponsorships Marketing , as part of the broader AP Regional Marketing team, oversees the portfolio of sponsorships, events and direct-to-consumer activations that leverage consumers passions to influence behavior among target consumers, issuers and merchants. By associating with and leveraging leading properties and events around the world, MasterCard offers cardholders access to ‘priceless’ experiences which in turn, builds brand and product preference, drives acquisition and increases card usage.
The role works in close collaboration with the regional markets, with numerous interdisciplinary functional areas to drive integration, and with the global sponsorships team to maximize the relevance of common consumer passion points worldwide as well as maintaining consistent standards and quality.
• Business and Brand Results -- Developing and overseeing the strategic implementation of consumer-led sponsorship marketing to ensure that sponsorships, partnership and event investments and activation initiatives are aligned with the business’ financial and franchise focus.
o Providing thought and executional leadership in the selection of sponsorship marketing partnerships (B2B, B2B2C and B2C), the acquisition of rights, benefits, assets and incentives, and execution of sponsorship marketing programs and full capitalization upon associated contractual rights
o Managing the property identification, proposal development negotiation, and activation of partnerships (including asset management, experiential and event activation, delivery of contractual rights) to maximize ROI of the regional sponsorship portfolio
o Directing the AP regional sponsorships practice in support of business development opportunities with issuers, merchants and direct-to-consumer, including internal consulting for business development teams in the application of sponsorship and event assets and the identification and pursuit of new revenue streams (i.e. closed loop payment solutions at sports and entertainment venues, business-build with constituents of a given property, etc.)
o Developing, managing and maintaining relationships with key decision makers in affiliated key partners and their agencies; particularly in the entertainment and sports industries.
o Liaising closely with other regional offices and global to ensure that cross-regional opportunities and global programs are leveraged effectively within AP
o Ensuring integration of AP sponsorship and partnership activities with overall marketing campaigns, other key functional groups (including Corporate Communications and PR) and key agency partners
• Compliance & Control -- Maintaining and reviewing compliance processes across the region, consistent with global MasterCard standards; including but not limited to business case submission and approval, strategic review of partnerships and new opportunities, governance, legal and finance processes
• Performance Management Discipline -- Managing the annual revenue and budget goals of the AP Sponsorships department. Developing and applying metrics and measurement tools for the evaluation of sponsorship and partnership investments .
• People Management
o Leading and collaborating with Division and Country marketing teams in AP to develop activation initiatives and execute with excellence
o Managing any and all external agencies as related to the Sponsorships program
o Project Managing the AP field operations team for major regional sponsorships (i.e. those that aren’t managed by a country-level marketing team), and project managing a team to fulfill bespoke event opportunities and programs across MasterCard sponsorship assets and non-sponsorship assets (primarily in the B2B space).
All About You:
BA or MBA in Marketing/Finance preferred
National and/or local consumer service or product promotions, preferably in the media or packaged goods industries
Proven relevant experience in sports or entertainment sponsorship marketing, event management, pan-regional project management and consumer marketing. Experience in building and managing a large/complex sponsorship program with top national/international brands – proven case studies showcasing project management and results in this area is desired
Experience with activating sponsorships/partnerships in the digital space
Experience in leading direct and virtual teams and grooming talent.
Proficiency in standard business computer software
