Job Description Summary
The Manufacturing Technologist is an integral member of the team who will primarily be responsible for manufacturing of media and cell separation culture in their respective final finished presentation or the production and purification of antibodies from cell culture and the manufacturing of immunological reagents, including particles-chemical synthesis (as applicable).
This individual will work collaboratively with STEMCELL’s Quality Control, Supply Chain and Quality Assurance departments to effectively produce and deliver high quality products to our customers. The Manufacturing department requires someone who has meticulous care and attention to detail and wishes to grow and thrive within a dynamic and diverse team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, set up and operate production equipment required in the manufacture of products
Follow written (batch record) procedures to manufacture assigned products maintaining the required quality
Seek to understand priorities and complete work in a timely manner
Participate, as required, in continuous improvement projects to improve efficiencies within manufacturing
Assists in supervision of the activities of production personnel engaged in variety of manufacturing processes.
Works closely with the Supervisors/ Team Leads to ensure workload is evenly distributed among all team members.
Aids the group in resolving issues and consult with Supervisors/Team Leads as needed.
Accountable for leading the production of KRM and high compliance product. Ensure the production proceeds as planned.
Provides suggestions to the training program. All team members are properly trained and following SOPs.
Mentors, motivates, and inspires team members to grow in the team.
Lead the team by setting a good example with both behavior and technical skills.
Works with Supervisor/ Team Lead in streamlining workflow and facilitate improvement projects.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Occasional weekend work (Saturday and/or Sunday) may be required.
BSc in one of life sciences (ie. Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cell biology) or equivalent degree
Experience with cell culture, bioreactors and particles synthesis definite assets
Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications (for example, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Visio, Access and Project)
Knowledgeable on quality systems such as ISO 13485. cGMP experience a definite asset
Depth of experience with cell culture, bioreactors and particles synthesis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to balance speed and accuracy requirements
Ability to lift 25 to 30lbs in the cold room environment
Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Exposure to Lean Principles a definite asset
