Amega West Services is a subsidiary of Carpenter Technology Corporation based in Houston, Texas. Amega West is a leading manufacturer of high-precision complex components for measurement while drilling (MWD) and logging while drilling (LWD), drill collars, stabilizers and other down-hole tools that have been used for directional oil and gas drilling. Carpenter acquired Amega West in December 2010 to provide a more integrated value-added supply chain to oil and gas customers. This growing business operates within the corporation’s Performance Engineered Products division and maintains more than ten strategically located facilities throughout the United States, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
Manages all technical documentation for production including, but not limited to, tooling specifications, fixture designs, and layouts. Responsible for coordinating with the tool crib function for inventory management, tool presetting, new tool development, and fixture maintenance. Responsible for productivity improvement projects including, but not limited to, tool testing, prototype part production, cycle optimization, and Lean Manufacturing projects.
Will assist in developing and submitting the capital budget for the facilities in accordance with the strategic goals set by management. Responsible for implementing capital projects in accordance with the capital budget for the facilities including all aspects required from appropriation approval and justification to release for production. This is to encompass all required initial tooling, operator training, and maintenance requirements as well as all approvals from Quality and HSE for all new installations.
Will assist in facility layout and physical arrangement to meet the strategic goals of the organization including utility requirements, operator aids, and material handling equipment. Will be responsible for process development projects including, but not limited to, cost analysis, machine OEE, make/buy analysis, and departmental structures. Will be responsible for development of design systems which reduce the manual input required for manufacturing deployment of new articles. This will include parametric programming of current systems as well as standardization of common routines.
Respond to customer inquiries for quotes on new manufacturing or repair of tools. May enter related sales orders. Discuss schedule as per customer needs with Manufacturing. Create Routers and BOM’s as needed to properly process products in the most efficient manner Issue PO’s as needed for outside operations. When required, support Purchasing function.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Four year degree in an Engineering discipline, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Master's degree in Business or Engineering preferred. 3+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a manufacturing environment. E2/SAP experience a plus. Ability to travel internationally as required.
Experience with manufacturing process/practices and MS Office application required. Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma preferred. Advanced aptitude in SolidWorks, Master Cam, and G-Code programming preferred.
Requires solid analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented and process driven. Self-motivated with the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
Ability to work well with others across cultures in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
