Shaping a Competitive Workforce for Singapore

For our workforce to remain competitive and employable in today’s fast changing workplace, they must have both knowledge as well as skills that are relevant, current and sought after by employers.

This calls for regular self improvement and continual learning over the course of one’s career. Acquiring new skills now becomes a vital and essential pathway that leads to greater employment opportunities.

In response to this need, the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) was formed to develop and strengthen skills-based training for adult workers to upgrade and advance in their careers and lives, over and above traditional academic upgrading pathways.

To achieve this, WDA is developing a Continuing Education and Training (CET) infrastructure under the CET Masterplan. We do this by working with many partners including employers, industry partners, the union, other Government agencies and training organisations, to develop skills-based training that are relevant to industries and accessible to all in the workforce. In so doing, we hope to support a competitive workforce with workers learning for life and advancing with skills.
