ComfortDelGro was formed on 29 March 2003 through the merger of two land transport giants - Comfort Group and DelGro Corporation. Both had started out in the 1970s and had, by the time of the merger, grown to become successful listed land transport companies. Following the merger, ComfortDelGro is now a force to reckon with, not just in Singapore, but globally as well.
ComfortDelGro’s businesses include bus, taxi, rail, car rental & leasing, automotive engineering services, vehicle inspection & testing services, driving centre, insurance broking services, outdoor advertising and car dealership.
SBS Transit Ltd and VICOM Ltd are subsidiaries listed on the Singapore Exchange. SBS Transit is Singapore’s largest public bus transport operator with a fleet of nearly 3,000 buses. It also runs urban rail operation, serving more than two million passengers daily. VICOM provides vehicle inspection and testing services. The Group is also Singapore’s largest taxi operator with over 15,200 taxis.
Apart from being the market leader in Singapore, ComfortDelGro has significant overseas presence. The Group’s operations currently extend from the United Kingdom and Ireland to Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia and as well as across 14 cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Chengdu.
