In 1858, the Company was founded by Chubei Itoh who began linen trading in Japan at the age of 15.
The parent Company's initial focus was on textile trade area. Subsequently, it expanded into other areas from grain and canned goods to aircraft, electronics and services such as foreign exchange and leasing.
C.Itoh & Co Ltd was first established in Singapore as a Representative Office in 1956 and later upgraded to branch status on 27 Feb 1963.
C.Itoh & Asia was established on 2 Oct 1989. Then it underwent a structural change in which the business activities of the Singapore branch was merged, and using the name of C.Itoh Asia Pte Ltd on 1 April 1991.
On 1st Oct 1992, it was renamed as ITOCHU Asia Pte Ltd. It was changed again on 1st Oct 2002 to ITOCHU Singapore Pte Ltd.
