Alexandra Hospital

From August 2010 till 2014, JurongHealth will manage Alexandra Hospital. While operating in Alexandra Hospital for the next four years, JurongHealth is also planning for its future Jurong General Hospital in the West.

Transition Planning Committee

To ensure that patient care and services were not disrupted, and that the change in Management was coordinated seamlessly, a multi-departmental Transition Planning Workgroup was set up to map JurongHealth's transition efforts. Chaired by Joanne Yap, COO of Jurong General Hospital, the workgroup held weekly meetings, and planned and coordinated cross-departmental efforts and processes to ensure operational readiness for transition.

Both the COOs of Jurong General Hospital and Alexandra Hospital held regular meetings to update and dovetail transition plans; individual departments also worked closely with their counterparts to sync transition details, including induction opportunities and attachments for Jurong General Hospital's frontline team to align to Alexandra Hospital's key service processes and standards to assuming duties.

Transition Milestones

During the first phase of pre-transition (March to June 2010), JurongHealth's core team relocated into Alexandra Hospital. The pioneering team of staff were nested at other institutions such as Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and National University Hospital (NUH). Groups of frontline staff were progressively brought onboard from December 2009 to understudy Alexandra Hospital's processes, operations and service standards. In the second phase of transition (March to June 2010), JurongHealth assumed management of the Specialist Outpatient Clinics, A&E, Ward and Operating Theatre services.

Jurong Health Services will assume full operations of the Alexandra Hospital site from August 2010.
